Google PageSpeed Insights. Key Speed Metrics

In Google PageSpeed Insights, the page load speed (Page Speed) metric is displayed in several places:

Performance Score:
After you enter the URL of the page and run the analysis, a numerical performance score will appear right below the search bar. This score, ranging from 0 to 100, indicates how well the page is optimized in terms of load speed and other factors. There is a separate score for both the mobile and desktop versions of the site.

  1. Below the overall score, you’ll see key metrics related to page load speed:
    • First Contentful Paint (FCP): The time it takes for the first visible content element to appear.
    • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): The time it takes for the largest content element to become visible.
    • Time to Interactive (TTI): The time it takes for the page to become fully interactive.
    • Total Blocking Time (TBT): The total time the page is blocked from being fully interactive.
    • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Measures the visual shift of elements during loading, impacting the user experience.
  2. Improvement Recommendations:
Below the metrics is a section with improvement recommendations. Here, you’ll find advice on how to speed up the load time, such as compressing images, optimizing CSS or JavaScript, etc. These recommendations directly impact load speed and can help improve the overall Page Speed Score.
